Business Maintenance

I am a business major and although I have a few background on marketing, I have very little experience in both actual advertising, product packaging and company branding. I also had very little to no training whatsoever in the art and science of visuals. And this is to completely say, I had no experience nor inclination in events decorating.  But as a fresh new employee, it was almost inevitable. Working in Asia for most of my professional life, I found that in almost any company, there are these ‘rituals’, these rites of passage. When you are a newcomer, you have to host company events, organize team-building activities and help in almost every company socials. So the choice almost always boil down to that: either serve as emcee or lead the décor committee. Modernity has provides an interesting irony: the simpler life has become, the more complicated its technologies have become. Yes, the very technology that makes life simpler is the same object that makes it complicated.  Websites for instance have made corporate life simpler by providing a virtual identity and presence. In other words, a company simply has to maintain a website in order to establish a niche. That is obviously significantly easier than putting up offices and satellite branches across vast areas just to capture large markets. Website maintenance is also substantially cheaper than hiring multiple warm bodies to do marketing, advertising, selling and customer service. With a website, this can all be done by a minimum number of personnel. 

During the summer season, we enjoy all sorts of fun and exciting activities because we can take a few days off from work and spend some quality time with our friends and family and that is why we make the most of the opportunities that we have to forget our problems and worries even for just a little while. Aside from catching up on our reading by curling up with a good book, growing a beautiful flower garden to add more colour to our environment and setting up a lemonade stand to earn a few extra bucks, we also love to head down the beach so that we can have the time of our life as we surf the high waves, sail off into sunset, build towering sand castles and collecting beautiful seashells on the seashore. But now that the summer days of the year are drawing to a close, we need to prepare for the rainy season in order to avoid accidents, mishaps and problems down the line that are caused by the violent storms and massive hurricanes that are coming our way.  And that is exact...
